Eutrophication can lead to effects such as algal blooms, blocking light from the water, harming plants & the ecology that need it. With an overgrowth of algae, oxygen is prevented from getting into the water, making it hypoxic (lacking oxygen), creating a dead zone where organisms cannot survive.
